Current banking & monetary statistics, federal finance, interest rates, stock indexes, securities, mortgage markets, credit, index of industrial production. Also includes a feature article related to Federal Reserve activities and governance. Indexed in ABI Inform.
  2. Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System Annual Statistical Digest Ref HG 181 .Al .U55a Annual publication compiles data for the Federal Reserve on activities of banks and other financial institutions: bank debits, income suspension, currency, money rates, security markets, US Government finance, gold, int'l finance, and consumer credit. Updated quarterly in the Federal Reserve Bulletin. For earlier data, see Banking and Monetary Statistics (1914-1970.)

    FRED® provides historical U.S. economic and financial data, including daily U.S. interest rates, monetary and business indicators, exchange rates, balance of payments and regional economic data for Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee.
  4. Encyclopedia of Banking & Finance Ref HG 151 .M8 1993 / 3 vols.
    Specialized encyclopedia gives and summary information on topics in this area of business. Entries range in length from sentence definitions and short paragraphs to several pages.

    This free site provides commodity quotes (with some time-delay, e.g. 15 min.) and historical charts for commodities.     according to their Web site "Chicago Mercantile Exchange is an international marketplace that brings together buyers and sellers of derivatives products, which trade on our trading floors, on our GLOBEX® electronic trading system and through privately negotiated transactions. The Exchange offers futures and options on futures in four basic product areas: interest rates, stock indexes, foreign exchange and commodities. CME has a long history of innovation, which includes pioneering financial futures contracts." The Web site provides quotes and other information on trading in commodities.

    Subtitled Corporate, Convertibles, Governments, and Municipals, MBR covers over 56,000 fixed income issues with figures on call price, interest dates, price range, yield, yield to maturity, rating, and amount outstanding. Annual with quarterly updates.
  2. Mergent Annual Dividend Record Ref HG 4028 .D5
    Pubished twice weekly, this service covers information on common and preferred dividiend paying stocks and mutual funds. It includes approximately 23,000 securities and mutual fund accounts
  3. Mergent Handbook of Common Stocks Ref HG 4905 .M815
    Pubished quarterly . Mergent Handbook provides single-page summaries for about 950 stocks determined to be of "high interest" to investors. For additional stocks, there is a condensed statistical tabulation with a single line for each stock.
  4. Standard and Poor's Stock Reports (ASE, NYSE, NASDAQ, & REGIONAL) Ref HG 4905 .S44
    Each exchange in a separate series - know the exchange of the company you are looking for. Each listing is a company report with a business summary, recent developments, income balance sheet, per share data, capital, dividends, etc. Smaller companies on NASDAQ are in a separate volume called "Profiles" which are less detailed than entries in the main volumes. Updated quarterly with back issues found on Library's 2nd floor.
  5. ValueLine Investment Survey Ref HG 4501 .V26
    As one of the few comprehensive evaluative and rating sources for investment, ValueLine is a popular source for the individual investor. ValueLine covers approximately 1700 stocks in the edition to which Reed Library subscribes. Updates are received weekly for selected industriy groups, with all industries updated quarterly. A summary table for all socks covered is also published weekly.
  6. Mergent Manuals: Industrials Ref HG 4961 .M67 Transportation Ref HE 206 .M6 Most comprehensive sources for financial data with analysis on specific companies and financial institutions.

    SmartMoney http://smartmoney.com Provides quick search for financial data and charts on individual companies. Watch for blue arrows indicating information by subscription only.
    Yahoo Finance Industry Center http://biz.yahoo.com/ic/ Useful feature is the spreadsheet for industries comparing financial data for companies. Yahoo is partnered with Reuters, as is evident from the links to company profiles, charts, and news. Reuter's is the company behind Multex Investor.
    Investment Club Central http://www.iclub.com An example of investment club software and online service.
    Yahoo Stock Screener http://screen.yahoo.com/stocks.html Screens by 100 industries as well as other criteria such as performace, sales and profit ratios, and others.
    Stock Market Yellow Pages http://www.StockMarketYellowPages.com/ Stock screening by keyword description. Beware, it does not search actual industry categories, just the text description.
    Morningstar http://morningstar.com Basic tools similar to Multex Investor. Includes a basic stock screener.
