Getting Started - Reed Library Computer Quick Tips

All access on the Reed Library network is through the Internet using a Web browser. The Library computers use MS Internet Explorer.

What this means for you:

The Reed Library computers provide Web access to Library resources including the Library Catalog, all library networked databases, the LIB 150 Coursepack, and other information and research sources available through the Web (WWW). The Library computers do not provide access to software applications or full access to the campus network, such as files saved on campus networked computers.

Use the Computer Labs to access individual student or faculty accounts for accessing stored files, e-mail, wordprocessing or other programs for creating documents. Library computers do not provide this type of access.

The Library Home page also provides quick access to specific sources or information through the drop-down menus. Clicking on each one will display a list. Often these lists are quite long and require either scrolling or keying a letter to move through the list alphabetically. For example, under Database Searching, pressing a W takes you to the databases staring with a W, such as Worldcat.
