Introduction to the Subject Databases - Electronic Resources
The database menu to the left is catgorized by general subject areas. Click on the links on this menu to move to the categories and, from there, link to a description for each title listed. The "keys" below describe the subject categories and data types.
KEY TO SUBJECT CATEGORIES
Titles are listed in the subject categories for which they are most useful. A title may be listed under more than one category. This is often the case for the most useful "multidisciplinary" resources.
- MULTIDISCIPLINARY and GENERAL - Resources listed here cover publications in numerous subject areas or academic disciplines, including general and popular interest publications such as news magazines. It is often ended to begin searching in the multidisciplinary sources for many topics.
- ARTS & HUMANITIES - Fine Arts (painting, sculpture, music), History, aspects of Anthropology and Archaeology, Literature, Languages, Philosophy, and Religion.
- EDUCATION - Various aspects of Education, including college catalogs and publications from educational institutions, as well as indexes to educational periodicals.
- BUSINESS - All aspects of Business, including investment, finances, small business, management, etc.
- SOCIAL SCIENCES - Political Science, Psychology, Social Work, aspects of Anthropology and Archaeology.
- SCIENCES - Physical, natural, and applied Sciences, including Physics, Biology, Physiology, Medicine, Engineering, Computer Science.

KEY TO DATA TYPES:
- *I = INDEXES - Periodical (journal or magazine) article, sometimes book or book chapter, source includes citations, and sometimes summaries. It may also be combined with fulltext, if a T is indicated.
- *M = MULTIMEDIA - Includes images and/or sound and are often on a specific topic or subject area.
- *N = NUMERIC DATA - Statistical and numeric information.
- *R = REFERENCE - Resources with are useful for finding specific information in either full-text or numeric format.
- *T = ARTICLES - Periodical (journal or magazine) article full-text. Many of the indexes included here have full-text for many, but not all, periodicals covered.
*Each title in the subject lists includes a letter designating which "data type" describes its content.
