- On campus:
Use the link for Access through FLC Network if you are on campus and accessing the Internet through a computer connected to the FLC network. This includes offices, computer labs, library, and generally all FLC computers.
- Off campus through FLC modem/ dial-up.
If you are off campus, use the Access through FLC network link when dialing into the FLC modem pool. Your computer IP will be the same as a campus computer. Our system will recognize you as a current affiliated member of the campus community.
- Off campus through an outside Internet Service Provider (ISP):
Who can access? Due to license agreements, only users directed affiliated with Fort Lewis College as current FLC student, staff or faculty, having a current FLC ID, can access subscription resources off campus. Many of our databases area are available to all within the library. Check the specific title access screen for details.
How: Use the link for Access through other service if you are accessing the Internet through another Internet Service Provider, such as Frontiernet, Brainstorm, Earthlink, MSN, etc. The library computer system will identify you as coming from an out of FLC network computer and will present a login screen. The verification is part of the Library computer system. This means that your Library record must be current. Students need to update their library record each term. The system uses either your Fort Lewis College ID number (begins with 9000) or your social security number (being phased out). *Exception: BNA is the only database that requires their own login and password. Follow the instructions on our introductory Web page.
- Anywhere (Open Web Access)
Web sites that are "no fee" open access have the link Open Web access. These generally do not require a logon. If they do, it is a service not provided by Reed Library or Fort Lewis College. We include these non-subscription services since they provide research level information that are likely to be useful to the college community. Some may offer additional services to members, either free or fee-based.
