Borrowing Library Materials
WHO CAN BORROW: Check out priviledges are extended to the students, faculty, and staff of Fort Lewis College. In addition, Colorado residents and residents of the Four Corners Region, 18 years of age and over, may also borrow materials and are registered in our system as state and local patrons. You will need the FLC Library card issued to you or your FLC ID in order to check out library materials.
LOAN PERIODS AND RENEWALS: Students, faculty, staff, and local patrons may check out books for a three week period. Two three-week renewals are permitted. Videos and CD's may be checked out by students for one day only, with a one-day renewal. Faculty have a seven day check-out.
Borrowed material may be renewed in person, by telephone (247-7270) or online.
FINES: Please return borrowed materials on time. Fines will be charged for overdue materials. Items not returned will be billed at $100.00 (or more) and unpaid accounts will be sent for collection.
RESERVE MATERIALS These are items designated by faculty as short-term check-outs. They include books, videos, CDs, and maps. These materials are located behind the Circulation Desk and must be checked out with a valid FLC ID card. Each item has a loan period established by the faculty member placing the item on reserve. Those loan periods range from one hour to seven days. Photocopied materials are available electronically through the Talon catalog.
Because all reserves are intended for many users over a limited time frame, the fine for a late return is $1.00 per hour, per item.
Reserve materials are arranged alphabetically by the last name of the professor. The individual items are listed by Course name and Instructor in the FLC Catalog accessed from the main menu. Circulation staff will retrieve requested materials.
THE CHECK-OUT DESK, also referred to as the Circulation Desk, is the primary point of service for the following library services:
Material check-out, renewal, and returns. Patrons may also place holds (for materials currently charged) and tracers (for unlocated materials) as well.
Copy machine services, copy card, and change distribution.
