Reserve Information For Students:

What hours can I check out reserve materials? Reserve items such as books, cds, videos, etc. must be requested and checked out at the circulation desk. Reserve items are available for checkout during all hours the library is open.

Where do I find electronic reserve items? Reserve items that are photocopied are now available electronically from any computer that has access to the Internet. If you are a student or faculty member at Fort Lewis College. Follow these instructions:

How long can I keep the materials? Each reserve item has a specific check out period. The checkout periods can vary from 1 hour to 7 days according to the professor. At the time of check out, the staff will tell you when it is due. This information is also available through the online Reserve catalog. The majority of items check out for 2 hours and are designed to be used in the Library.

Can I renew a reserve item? Reserve items cannot be renewed.

What if someone else has the item I need? Reserve items cannot be put on hold. If the item is checked out to someone else, the online reserve catalog will show the time it is due back to the Library. If an item is overdue, the library staff will do their best to retrieve it.

Can I take reserve materials out of the Library? Most reserve materials can be taken out for 1 or 2 hours and are intended to be used in the library. There are study spaces within the Library, as well as copy machines available.

Can I listen to tapes and view videos/DVDs in the Library? Yes, there is a music/listening room. Once a patron checks out a video, there are videocassette players and headphones located near the video/DVD collection. Additional headphones are available at the Circulation Desk.

What about late fees? The overdue fees are $1.00 per hour up to $25.00.
